I was introduced to English smocking
over 25 years ago, with the birth of my first child, starting
with iron-on dots and tutorials from the enthusiastic seamstress
whose work first piqued my interest in this art. Starting with
smocking for children and friends, my alterations and tailoring
customers soon began requesting smocked garments in addition to
their usual business.
I
started sewing at age 10, and over the years have sewn for everyone
from drycleaners to bridal shops, even creating my daughter's
wedding dress, along with all of her bridesmaids dresses. Nevertheless,
smocking has always been my true love. As with many in this field,
it became such a source of relaxation that many panels were smocked
and garments created just for the joy of doing it. I shared my
love for the art with both of my children, Jennifer and Toby,
who each learned to smock at the age of six. I
also have a wonderful husband, Doyle, with whom I've shared a
very happy 30 years.
Jennifer
Over these years, I have also been bitten by the “smocking
bug”. With no children just yet, I'm thrilled to share our
creations with you. My mother taught me to smock at the early
age of 6, but my passion for smocking re-emerged just after my
college graduation. I have also learned to create my own smocking
designs, as well as how to design websites. I also enjoy photography
and graphic design, and this company embraces all of my creative
passions!
My
darling husband, Jeff, and I were married in August 2002. We've
bounced from New Orleans to St. Louis and have now settled in
Boise, Idaho. So I'm happy to say that I finally have some time
to sew again!
We
love what we do, and it shows!
